Project Description
Angola
The photographic work on Angola spans 3 years between 1998 – 2001 during the last few years of Angola’s long civil war. Eleanor travelled across the whole country as part of a wider photographic commission to see parts of Angola that had not been seen for over 30 years due to the civil war. The work was financially and logistically supported by Sonangol, Save the Children Fund, the United Nations World Food Programme, and the Halo Trust. There were two exhibitions of the work – Angola Worn and Torn (1999) and Picture Angola 2000 (2000-2001) that toured the UK and abroad. All images were taken on medium format black and white ILFORD film (100, 400 and 3200). The exhibition Picture Angola 2000 was materially sponsored by ILFORD.
